2. A "bump out" onto the existing deck provided more space for the Lounge. A niche was created to provide interior space for a bookcase and entertainment centre that did not take up too much space in the Lounge. The high window over the niche provide natural light and ventilation while still maintaining privacy from the neighbours. The front edge of the niche is on the front setback boundary and did not allow for a conventional overhang. An option is to add an awning to protect the window from the Eastern early morning sun. A brighter entry landing provides a welcoming entry to visitors and the owner alike.
